泰国被称为毒蛇的宝库，出产的蛇类非常多。研究所附设的毒蛇场内饲养着大量活生生的毒蛇，数千条毒蛇分门别类，饲养在设备良好的玻璃房里。眼镜蛇、蝮蛇、赤练蛇、金环蛇、银环蛇等数十种毒蛇，或盘成环状在地上睡眠、休息，或攀在树木上，居高临下，悠然自得。

Thailand is known as the treasure house of snakes, which produces a lot of snakes. The viper farm attached to the institute is home to a large number of live vipers, thousands of which are classified and kept in well-equipped glass rooms. Dozens of venomous snakes, such as cobra, pit viper, red snake, gold ring snake, silver ring snake, or coils into a ring on the ground to sleep, rest, or climb on the trees, at a high position, leisurely and complacent.

和市中心红十字会所属的毒蛇研究所相比，蛇饲养场的表演更加面向大众，游客们可以在此看到专门人员空手捉蛇、白鼠喂蛇以及抽取蛇毒的示范表演。有时则可以观看到鼬鼠与毒蛇混战的精彩场面。

在这里，工作人员收集毒蛇，取其毒液做抗毒血清，医治被毒蛇咬伤的病人。

游玩体验

这是毒蛇研究所内举行的特殊表演。表演者可以随意与毒蛇进行亲密接触，显得格外轻松。

不过，他们面对的可是世界上毒性最强的毒蛇，比如眼镜王蛇和金环蛇，稍有不慎就可能丧命。

蛇毒可分为两类：阴毒(七孔流血)和阳毒(全身发黑)。世界最毒蛇王——金刚王眼镜蛇，人被它咬后3分钟内就会毙命，而且会全身发黑，同时七孔流血。因为金刚王眼镜蛇的食物为眼镜蛇，所以炼就了世界上无与伦比的超级剧毒。

表演与毒蛇亲吻。虽然你想着他们不会有事，但毕竟这是世界上最毒的毒蛇，你还是有点替他们担心。

其实，精彩的表演和展览只是吸引游人的方式。作为世界上主要的毒蛇研究中心，以及泰国红十字会成员，毒蛇研究所的主要功能还是研究抗蛇毒血清。这里的工作人员每隔几周，就要采集一次蛇毒。截止目前，研究所已经成功研制出了六种抗毒血清。

In fact, wonderful performances and exhibitions are just ways to attract visitors. As one of the world's leading centers for venomous snake research, and a member of the Thai Red Cross Society, the Institute's main function is to research antivenoms. Workers here collect snake venom every few weeks. So far, the institute has successfully developed six antitoxic serums.
